Empowered Nutrition Meal Plans was born from a desire of the think tank at Empowered Nutrition Products Inc. as a desire to help more people accomplish their goals with nutrition faster than thought possible.
After providing Personalized Nutrition Programs for over 13 years to the fitness, wellness and medical industries, I (Patrick McGuire, Developer and President, Empowered Nutrition) had a burning desire to provide more solutions to the wants and needs people had for their personal transformation journey.
As a nutritionist, I knew it was most important to provide solutions not just short term fixes to the everyday needs and ailments. Many people feel that medicine and drugs are the only answer as they age. This is not the case.
As a competitive body builder and elite level athlete I applied all that I learned from what I would call my “holistic” nutrition education.
It is nutrition alone that will change your life faster and more effectively with long term results than any other thing on the planet.
Training alone will fail you.
Supplements and Drugs alone will fail you.
You will fail you.
The intelligent combinations of the 3 pillars of performance are essential to optimal health, vitality and the realization of your dream body.
Yeah I won’t kid you. For the fastest of all results you need all 3 pillars. For immediate and lifelong results you only need the first two pillars to erect a solid foundation and to walk on (nutrition + exercise).
It is the first pillar I chose to focus my life on. I chose to train hard, lift heavy, lift smart and eat smarter. As an elite athlete playing at the semi professional level in 2 sports (hockey and football) and competing in bodybuilding events in the off seasons or off years, I was at the top of my game so to speak. I loved training. I trained hard. I trained heavy. I trained smart. I made progress happen almost every day and had a radical and methodical approach to my training going years without injury or hitting “plateaus” or peaks and valleys.
It was this methodical approach to training that allowed me to put my nutrition knowledge to the test each and every day.
The reality was that I was never in shape until I focused on my “diet” and I was never out of shape when I focused on my “diet”. Nutrition IS that important to your goals. If you think you are going to get in great shape training harder, longer and more often then what I have to say is NOT for you.
Plain and Simple…
That will ring true today, tomorrow and well into your future.
I am proof of that. I trained hard for many years and got bigger, but remained “fatty”. Call it the “fatty Paddy” syndrome if you will. Everyone knew I was BIG and STRONG and I was the “GO-TO” guy for training to get power and strength, but no one ever said I was ripped, cut or shredded. No one came to me for diet or contest pre advice until I did it myself.
When it all changed was precisely 2 weeks into my first bodybuilding contest diet. People noticed immediately and started to ask questions like…
“What the heck are you doing?”
“What magic fat burner did you find, can I have some?”
Nutrition happened that’s what happened dummy. Duh (by the way in case you couldn’t hear it that was said with a Homer Simpson donut eating voice… aaaahhh doooo-nuuutssss)
So after many years as a struggling body builder staying fat and out of shape was easy to do. I got that mastered. Funny thing is I WAS the skinny kid growing up. Then I started to eat like the body building magazines said to from grade 8 to grade 10, I was able to put on over 40 pounds of bulk (142 pounds to 188 pounds), much of it muscle, but some of it fat using the “SEE-FOOD” approach. SEE FOOD and eat it. I knew enough to eat more protein, but I ate more of everything and I grew. I wasn’t ashamed of that, it was my goal. By grade 12 I was 212 pounds playing rep hockey and high school football, rugby and hockey as well as training 4 even 5 days a week.
I worked very hard during university to gain more muscle, even trimming a bit of fat off, then on and off again, but no serious focus on nutrition. I worked at a gym with a friend of mine and IFBB pro Nimrod King. We hung out, talked and trained together. I learned a lot from those days. But never did I get shredded (until I entered one of Nimrod’s shows the Windsor Championships).
I was also in the Royal Canadian Military Reserves during my years at the University of Windsor. It was great. I chose to go “Reg Force” after completing several boot camps in Petawawa outside of Ottawa Ontario. As a Royal Canadian Amoured Corps Trooper, I was again the “GO TO” guy for training advice. I was clearly bigger than the rest of the squad and in great shape. They ripped me into shape and as much as I hated running and marching, I learned to love it and I embraced it. Problem was there was little time for training with weights and all that running and marching was shearing lean muscle from my frame every day. It SUCKED!
After a few years I left the RCAC and pursued my goals of being a cop or firefighter and that is when I started training people professionally. It is also when I went back to school for nutrition. I know that is the long way around things, but I had to learn somehow and sometimes I learn better with PAIN and a swift kick in the head, than intelligent planning. Oh well all the better for you, because that is when I learned to fight the good fight and combine the teachings of holistic nutrition and the apply the theories of performance nutrition. I have to admit I nearly flunked out. I fought with my profs so often I was the problem kid. But I had an answer that was obvious it worked. I got contest ready during one of my semesters and showed my prof how the two worlds do work together and are not mutually exclusive of each other. He still thinks I am an idiot… Oh well I still think he is a holistic quack… I respect and love him (and all my profs) for pushing me.
After competing and training clients for a few years I trained some semi pro football players and they teased me to come out and play ball with them. I finally caved after a few years hearing all the glory stories. I tried out for the Oakville Longhorns. At the time I was 244 pounds and hadn’t sprinted for several years let alone cut routes and smashed heads. In high school I was the defensive tackle and backup power back on offense (basically I was called in to smash thru the goal lines inside of 10 yards, it was cool, no work and all the glory).
After a few weeks of tryouts with the Oakville Longhorns I was on the kick off team at our first game. By the third game I was put in the position of middle line backer. At the end of the season I was starting MLB and although I worked at a nutrition store during the day, trained mid afternoon, practiced from 6-9 and worked from 10-3 am, no matter how much I ate (every 2-3 hours), how much creatine I consumed (10 grams 2-4 times per day) I still dropped from 244 pounds down to 228 pounds by end of the season.
I decided to bulk up for a few years and compete again. This is where I really learned to push the envelope of nutrition. I bulked up from 228 pounds, then I cut from 263 pounds and 22% body fat down to 204 pounds 4% body fat on stage in just under 16 weeks and I can help you do it too.
I had the luxury of working with nutrition industry giants like Sam Graci, Brad King and Barry Sears. I still meet and talk with Sam and Brad a few times a year.
I learned from guys like Cory Holley, Mauro DiPasquale, Dan Duchaine, Will Brink and even Robert Atkins.
I read every nutrition book I could get my hands on by many genius authors and many you will never hear of. I tested every theory of nutrition I could possibly ever find and I applied them with the right exercise and supplement strategy for that goal that worked with the right nutrition strategy.
Because of my relentless attack on every theory I could find, you are the sole benefactor. From my efforts to provide higher nutrition for my clients and myself, I helped build an industry leading nutrition solution with Personalized Nutrition Programs for Fitness Companies around the world.
Now I am able to take all my experiences, all my products and all my creativity and mesh it with my desire to do great things and help more people accomplish their goals faster than thought possible and create the “Done-For-You” Empowered Nutrition Meal Plans.
